How do you calculate the area of a compound shape made up of simpler shapes, for example rectangles and triangles?

Add the areas of each shape

Multiply the perimeter of each shape

Subtract the areas of the shapes

Divide the perimeter by the number of shapes

The total area of a compound shape is obtained by summing the areas of its individual components.
